Colorado Springs Fire Department breaks ground for new fire station
The Colorado Springs Fire Department has broken ground on the new Fire Station #21 in Colorado Springs, in the US state of Colorado.
The newest fire station of the department will be located at the north east corner of Dublin Road and Peterson Blvd. The fire station has been designed by the Fennell Group on a retro theme. It is also laden with contemporary features.
The fire station's design incorporates the latest principles in functionality and energy efficiency. The project is being targeted for LEED certification. If it wins, it will be Colorado Spring's first LEED-certified fire station. The building has been designed to meet the requirements for LEED platinum certification.
The fire station is anticipated to receive 500 calls for service in the first year of operation. The facility is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2013.
