CircleReading elective care hospital completes in Reading
VINCI Construction has completed construction of Circle Health's CircleReading elective care hospital in Reading, UK designed by UK-based design practice Bryden Wood Associates.
The hospital's design takes inspiration from the design of CircleBath hospital. Spanning over 10,400 square metre, the hospital features 29 en-suite bedrooms, 20 day surgery beds, 17 consulting suites, five operating theatres and a full imaging suite.
Majority of the work on the scheme was completed off-site, which enabled the building to achieve major cost savings. Elements such as the structural frame, building services and bathrooms were installed at the site.
The building is highly sustainable. It requires less energy for heating and ventilation, resulting in smaller carbon footprint. Compression of services, ceiling voids and building volume were other features, resulting in less materials to build.
The hospital is scheduled to open in August 2012.
