Christmas Tree Décor: London Christmas tree designs 2017

The Tree of Glass at aqua shard

On the 31st floor of The Shard sits the glamorous, contemporary restaurant aqua shard, which has recently revealed its magnificent, illuminated Christmas tree, titled ‘The Tree of Glass’. Designed by Lee Broom and crafted by Nude, the sculptural take on the traditional Christmas tree was inspired by The Shard’s prominent architecture and iconic silhouette.

Unique in its design, the Tree of Glass consists of 245 hand blown glass LED pendant lights that float in formation; standing at just under 10 meters tall,  the glass formations come together to create a Shard-shaped tree of light and glass. Each of the pendants has also been inspired by the Shard’s design, playfully lighting aqua shard’s triple-story atrium.

This is the first collaboration between Lee Broom, a leading UK product designer, and the contemporary glassware brand Nude, who have carefully handcrafted the shade for each of the pendant lights. These individual lights are also available to purchase, with £100 of the sale of each light going to charity.
