Chedi Andermatt opens first hotel mock up room

The Chedi Andermatt in Switzerland is set to be completed soon and has opened its first hotel mock up room.

The facility has been designed by hotel designer Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston International Architects and Planners. The new mock up room spans over an area of 52 square metres and is the smallest unit in the new facility.

A distinct feature of the room is a monochromatic mural printed on canvas replicating Peter Paul Rubens’ 17th century painting. The mural is placed along a four metre wall. The wall behind the bed sports timber cladding and is adorned with antique lanterns. The furniture pieces installed in the room enable adjustable living.

The position of the fireplace incorporated in the room facilitates it to be experienced from the outside terrace as well as the interior area. The design of the room also allows the television or the alpine scenery to be viewed from the bathtub. Further, the amenities of the room such as fireplace, TV and shutters can be controlled through an iPad.

The property will also sport an ice-skating rink, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool comprising a 10-metre outdoor extension, check-in bar measuring 30 metres in length, a large spa and 50 hotel rooms. Among its other features are 64 apartments, six penthouses, seven lofts and 42 residences. It is due to open by the end of 2013.
