Chaminade College Preparatory opens Tutor Family Centre for the Performing Arts
Chaminade College Preparatory has opened its new $9.7 million Tutor Family Centre for the Performing Arts in California, US.
The new building spans 23,175 square feet featuring teaching and rehearsal area for drama, dance, band and choral students. The drama room also does the function of a black box theatre. The dance room has been fitted with a sprung floor capable of preventing slips while the band and choir rooms incorporate acoustic treatments.
The new facility further houses a theatre with a seat capacity of 365. There is a permanent stage sporting 46 lines for backdrops, curtains, lights, as well as integrated lighting and sound system. A scene building workshop, storage rooms for props and costumes, and dressing rooms and office area have been built backstage.
The project has been financed via a $6 million capital campaign known as Lighting the Way, as well as cash reserves.
