Call for entries: Helsinki Design Residency 2015

Two-month residency open to UK practitioners who work at the intersection of art, design and architecture

The British Council, in collaboration with the Helsinki International Artist Programme and Helsinki Design Week, is looking for practitioners to participate in a two-month residency in Helsinki.

Coinciding with Helsinki Design Week (3 - 13 September), the residency will take place between 3 August and 30 September and focus on the theme of Time Machine, as a platform to explore how design can predict and shape the urban context of future cities.

The fourth residency of its kind, it will pose questions such as: what will be the role of design in the future city? How will design re-imagine the relationship between past and future? How will design address questions of division, socio-cultural diversity and the dichotomy between urban centre and periphery in the Helsinki of the future.

The residency is open to UK-based practitioners who work at the intersections of art, design and architecture. The closing date for submissions is Sunday 7 June 2015.

Previous recipients include Julia Tcharfas, who created a sound composition titled ‘Eco-System’, Tzortzis Rallis, who explored Helsinki’s graphic design scene and Tobias Revell, who offered a critical view into the design community in Helsinki.
