Bouygues wins $184 million Ritz Paris renovation contract

Bouygues Bâtiment Île-de-France, a subsidiary of French Bouygues Construction, has secured a €140 million ($183.68 million) renovation contract for the Ritz Hotel in Paris, France.

Ritz, located in the Place Vendôme area of Paris, has embarked on a two year project, which will completely transform the pristine hotel of Paris. The renovation has been designed by Atelier Cos., while the interiors will be done by Thierry W. Despont. The project will also involve efforts of several specialised craftsmen, such as cabinetmakers, stonemasons and plasterers.

Bouygues, as an integral part of the project, will add a summer restaurant to the hotel featuring a sliding roof. Other work involves construction of new suites, enlargement of the ballroom and incorporation of latest technological innovations.

Work on the hotel is scheduled to begin in mid-2012. The refurbished hotel will open in 2014 and will feature new decoration. The renovation will give a new look to the historic areas of the hotel, while simultaneously maintaining its iconic essence.
