Blacksheep designs Jamie's Italian restaurant in London
UK-based design practice Blacksheep has designed a new restaurant called Jamie's Italian in Westfield, Stratford City, London for MWW, in collaboration with the British chef Jamie Oliver.
The design of the restaurant captures the Olympic theme, with the ambiance an amalgamation of a theatrical setting and fun atmosphere. The restaurant serves light Italian food.
The two tier restaurant has a total area of 649.38 square metre. The company has used black mountain natural slate tiles and reclaimed oak timber for the ground and first level's flooring. The first floor rear room has herringbone distressed oak timber, while black and white tumbled mosaic marble tiles have been used for the entrance. The Market Place has unglazed black and white porcelain tiles.
The restaurant has reclaimed off white glazed ceramic tile while the kitchen has black glazed ceramic tile. The first floor rear room has rough concrete render and/ sandblasted bridge oak panelling. Reclaimed crackle glaze off white tile and grey glazed ceramic tile with contrasting grout and bridge oak panelling was employed on WC walls. The company has used reclaimed timber panels to highlight the walls of the restaurant. The Bar and anti pasti fronts has been done up in black stained oak, while cedar timber was used for the exterior.
Grey painted slab with exposed services has been used for the ceiling. The waiter stations feature suspended reclaimed timber beams, which add to the aesthetics of the space.
