Big-D wins law-college contract in Utah

US-based Big-D Construction has secured a contract from the University of Utah (U of U) for the development of the new University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law campus.

The new campus of the law college will replace the existing 1963 building, which sits along with the Great Depression-era Carlson Hall. The new campus will boast a total area of 155,000 square feet. The project is still in the design stage.

The campus is likely to be built at the northeast corner of South Campus Drive and University Street. The facilities at the new SJ Quinney College of Law campus will consist of a 450-seat conference center, which will be used by both college staff and students and also by outside people to host variety of events.

The building will incorporate several sustainable elements and is being targeted for LEED platinum certification. The University of Utah received $4 million from the church for the construction of the SJ Quinney College of Law.
