Design Council announces recipients of its Better by Design fund
The Design Council has announced the 10 projects that will share £100,000 funding for schemes aimed at improving children’s lives.
Its Knee High initiative launched in July with St Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals, which put up the cash, and two London councils. Some 190 applicants were received and from a shortlist of 25 the winners selected. They include Creative Homes, by a team of designers and artists aiming to create interactive play products to relieve stress in the home, and the Leapfrog Bus for interactive experiences for under fives using family-friendly spacial design.
The project teams, each with access to £10,000, will test their concepts' viability and given tailored support. Further funding of up to £100,000 can be applied for in the autumn.
