BDP to design new Hongqiao business district in Shanghai
BDP has won an international competition to design the new Hongqiao business district in Shanghai, China for client Golden Kingdom.
BDP will serve as the project architect and will offer specialist services for the project including sustainability, acoustics, landscape, lighting and structural engineering. The property, part of a flexible multi-purpose mixed-density masterplan, will house 350,000 square metres of office, retail and landscape. It will be a low-rise development slated to encompass a maximum of eight floors.
A host of factors such as pedestrian flow, natural light and wind paths will be considered while designing the development. Offices will be located around the edge of the development while the commercial areas will be positioned at street level toward the centre.
Work on the project is scheduled to commence by September 2012.
