The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) has broken ground on its new $20 million ASGE Institute for Training and Technology (IT&T) in Downers Grove, Illinois, US.

The gastrointestinal endoscopy training center and ASGE world headquarters is located on a 3.5-acre site. It will span 42,000 square feet and will be equipped with advanced technologies. The facility will feature latest lab facilities with a capacity to accommodate up to 16 hands-on stations to offer training simulations with advanced equipment and technologies in endoscopy. It will also provide built-in flexibility to house equipment and models for hands-on training and simulation in other specialties.

The property will comprise an auditorium with a seat capacity of 100. It has been equipped with an audience-response system. Among its various other features include additional conference space and breakout rooms, rentable lab, and banquet room.

Funds for the project will be raised through the ASGE's IT&T Capital Campaign. The facility is scheduled to open by August 2013.
