Altro supplies flooring and wall cladding for new West Lancashire College


UK-based firm Altro has supplied flooring and wall cladding for ground-breaking of the new £42.8 million ($69.05 million) West Lancashire College in the UK.


The new building, designed by RMJM and developed by BAM Construction, forms part of the Newcastle College Group. It substitutes the older campus consisting of two buildings spanning 13,500 square metres. The college features various facilities such as children’s nursery, a theatre with a seat capacity of 200, a café bar, and a hair and beauty salon.

The new college has installed more than 2,700 square metres of Altro safety flooring. Its circulation areas and classrooms have been fitted with Altro Suprema flooring which comes in a host of shades. The facility's kitchens have incorporated Altro Stronghold 30 measuring 3mm in thickness. The flooring is slip-resistant.

Altro Whiterock hygienic wall cladding adorns the catering and teaching kitchens of the building whereas Altro Whiterock Chameleon Splashbacks have been installed over sinks in about 60 rooms.

Altro Whiterock is a food safe, uPVC polymer for operating temperatures up to 60°C. It can be cleaned with ease, as well as is impact resistant and grout-free. It also complies by all existing EU Directives on health and hygiene. Altro Whiterock Chameleon Splashbacks don a high gloss finish. They are available in an easy-to-install single sheet kit.
