Alex. Brown, PEG Development and Blue Diamond to develop two hotels in Utah
US-based Alex. Brown Realty, Inc. (ABR), in a joint venture with PEG Development (PEG) and Blue Diamond Capital (BDC), has announced plans to develop two hotel schemes in Salt Lake City, Utah which are designed by Beecher Walker Architects.
Including two hotels, a structured parking garage and mixed use retail, the project will be developed in two phases on a 3.26 acre development site at the southwest corner of West 100 South and South 300 West, adjacent to the Energy Solutions Arena.
Phase I will consist of a 159-room extended-stay Hyatt House hotel and a 349-space structured parking garage. The hotel will be the first urban Hyatt House in the Hyatt portfolio. The Hyatt House Hotel is expected to open in fall 2014.
Phase II will consist of a 175-room select-service new urban Courtyard by Marriott hotel. Both hotels will feature ground-level retail and the parking garage will accommodate hotel guests as well as event parking for the Arena and convention center. The Courtyard by Marriott is anticipated to open in spring 2015.
Prior to construction, an environmental remediation of the site will be done in accordance with plans approved by the Utah Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Rimrock Construction is the general contractor for the project and Lodging Dynamics of Provo, Utah, will manage both the Hyatt House and Courtyard by Marriott.
